Mom Turns Boy In After Teens Burglarize Bakery

Boys Spend the Loot on Drugs

SAO PAULO, Brazil – A 17-year-old was arrested after burglarizing a bakery in Suzano, in Metropolitan Sao Paulo yesterday.

Closed circuit cameras inside the establishment recorded images of the boy, who acted with an accomplice. Police circulated the images and the boy was recognized by his mother who turned him in. The arrest was made less than 24 hours after the crime was commited.

”He has to pay for what he did,” she says.

The pair stole about U.S. $400 and spent the money on drugs and marijuana. The young man had U.S. $30 left when he was arrested. There is no word on his accomplice. He was taken to Foundation House, a juvenile detention center in Sao Paulo.

According to Wikipedia, Suzano is a medium sized city with a population of about 300,000 in metropolitan Sao Paulo. Suzano has a large Japanese Brazilian population. It is an important industrial city, although it was originally agricultural. Many soldiers who fought in Italy's Monte Castelo in World War II were from the city.
