Brazilian Navy Warships Open to Public

| VITORIA, Brazil – Five Brazilian Navy warships are open for public inspection this weekend at Vitoria Harbor. The five vessels, Corvette Borroso, Frigates Niteroi and Greenhalgh, Tankers Bosisio and Almirante Gastao Motta, are open from 2 pm to 5:30 pm Saturday and Sunday. The tours are free.

The navy ships are moored in Victoria Harbor during a break in the 2011 Tropicalex war games taking place off the coast of Brazil in the South Atlantic, which began on 06 October and run through 26 October. The war games include anti-submarine warfare, over the horizon targeting, oil transfer at sea, load transfer at sea, damage control, asymmetric threat and air threat at sea.

The games include other vessels which are not open for tour in Victoria. The exercise includes about 1,600 military and are being conducted in the vicinity of the Campos Oil Basin.
