According to the PF, about three months ago, they began investigating an international drug trafficking route that passes through the northern part of the state. Hashish was being brought into the country from Paraguay traveling through Mato Grosso do Sul, into Minas Gerais for distribution in the capital, Belo Horizonte.

The seized hashish was pressed into briquettes and hidden throughout the vehicle. The police chief, Marcelo Freitas, says that more arrests are expected. “The person arrested today by the PF is a major drug dealer who is distributing drugs across the country but especially in Minas Gerais. The gang is still being investigated by the PF in Montes Claros, and certainly more arrests will be made in the coming days,” he said.
