Stevie Wonder Wooes the Crowd and Gives Amazing Performance at the "Rock In Rio 2011" Music Festival

RIO DE JANEIRO, Brazil – Stevie Wonder performed for just over two hours last night at the Rock in Rio 2011 music festival. By all accounts the performance—one of the most anticipated of the week-long festival—was smooth and occasionally explosive as he worked his way through four decades of hits.

The performance started out mild with the singer and multi-instrumentalist setting a quiet scene. He performed “How Sweet It Is” by Marvin Gaye, an artist who, like him, started out at Motown. Clavinet playing, Stevie made beautiful tribute to Bob Marley (“Master Blaster”) and Michael Jackson (“The Way You Make Me Feel”).

Then he moved on to the piano and shone in classics that reflect his eclecticism, sweeping ballads (“Overjoyed,” My Cherie Amour”) to social issues (such as the epic “Living for the City”) and then he dipped into Brazilian Popular Music (MPB) with (“Girl From Ipanema” and a surprising version of “Voce Abusou” by Jobim), culminating with the funk-rock “Superstition,” all to rousing applause.

Government wants sexy ad taken off TV

BRASILIA, Brazil - A Brazilian government agency says it wants a TV ad starring a lingerie-clad Gisele Bundchen (jih-ZEHL' BUN'-chen) to be taken off the air because it is sexist.

The Women's Rights Secretariat says in a Thursday statement that it has asked the National Advertising Council to suspend the ad. It says the ad reinforces stereotypes of women as sex objects.,

The ad shows Bundchen clad in underwear telling an unseen husband that she crashed the car and exceeded her credit card limit.

The Brazilian lingerie maker Hope says it wanted to show that a "Brazilian woman's sensuality is her best protection when delivering bad news."
