RIO DE JANEIRO – Football players and singers were among the rich and famous who had their luxury cars seized on Friday as part of the Federal Government crackdown on the Israeli Mafia in Brazil. Operation “Black Ops” was carried out by the Federal Organized Crime Task Force, a team made up of Federal Police, Federal Tax Authorities and the Federal Prosecutors Office.

Federal Agents Strike Against Israeli Mafia

| SAO PAULO, Brazil – The Federal Police (PF) arrested 13 people suspected of belonging to a criminal organization charged with operating slot machines and with links to the Israeli Mafia. The group is also accused of smuggling luxury cars into the country as part of a scheme to launder the gambling income.

| CURITIBA, Brazil – Federal Police arrested, this Friday, a 27-year-old man from Vilha Velho, Espirito Santo, and charged him with international drug trafficking. He was caught trying to board a flight at the international airport in the city with more than 4 kg of narcotics under his pants. Police say he was bound for Sao Paulo.

The officers found 4.47 kilograms of hashish stuck to the mans lower limbs, packaged and ready for distribution. After questioning, the man was indicted and could face penalties ranging from five to 15 years in prison with a fine. There is a possibility of a sentence enhancement due to the international nature of the crime.

The drugs were taken to the police evidence locker where they will remain until a court order for its destruction.
