| FORTALEZA, Brazil – A calf born with two heads in the city of Crato, in the interior of the state, has become an attraction. The animal caught the attention of community residents, who gathered at the farm where it was born to take pictures and shoot videos.

“Once I learned that a calf was born with two heads I came to record it. This video will go down in history,” a health worker, told TV Verdes Mares. She drove a long way, she said, to see the animal, which died a few hours after it was born.
“I saw a similar case on the internet and television, but in person, it was my first time,” an agricultural technician told the reporter.

The farmer where the two-headed calf was born helped to deliver the strange looking specimen. “She wasn't strong enough [to force the calf out by herself]. Some friends tried to help me pull the it out – that was all we could do to help. That's the story of this unprecedented event,” the farmer recounted to the reporter.
According to a veterinarian who came to help, the birth of the alien-like animal was due to a genetic anomaly that occurs in rare cases. The anomaly, according to the vet, might be due to toxic feed. She cited the plant jurema, common in the region where the animal was born and toxic to cattle.
