| CURITIBA, Brazil– The Cosco Vietnam container ship is attracting attention at the Port of Paranagua, in southern Brazil. The 334 m (1,095 foot) vessel entered the port on Tuesday morning and is the largest ship ever to so.

The ship, with a 42.8 m (158 foot) beam and 14.5 m (48 foot) draft, has the capacity to carry about 8,000 containers. The Brazilian Navy issued a special permit allowing the Cosco Vietnam to dock at Paranagua.
While in port, the container ship will load 345 containers and unload 455.
The Hong Kong flagged Cosco Vietnam passed through the southern Brazilian ports of Porto Alegre (Rio Grande do Sul) and Itapoa (Santa Catarina) before arriving in Paranagua. After leaving, it will visit Santos (Sao Paulo) before leaving Brazilian waters in route to Singapore.
