Shortly before, Eike lamented “deeply” for the accident and commiserated with the relatives of the victim. “My sympathy to the family and my commitment that all necessary assistance will be provided,” Eike posted to Twitter, while also ensuring that his son will testify this week.

Batista also said that Thor was obeying the speed limit, submitted to a breathalyzer test, and answered all questions asked of him at the Federal Highway Police (PFR).

According to a report on the G1 website, entrepreneur Thor de Oliveira Fuhrken Batista, eldest son of Batista, ran over and killed cyclist Wanderson Pereira dos Santos, 30, on the Washington Luís Highway (BR-040), in Duque de Caxias, in Lower Fluminense, Rio de Janeiro state, on Saturday night.

The accident happened in the southbound lane moving towards Rio de Janeiro, descending the mountain. Thor was driving a Mercedes-Benz SLR Mc Laren, license plate EIK-0063. The family of the cyclist says that the victim did not cross lanes, as claimed by Thor, but was riding on the shoulder.

The case is being investigated as manslaughter by running over by motor vehicle by Precinct 61 (Xerem). The Civil Police (PC) said they will investigate the circumstances of the collision. Thor was subpoenaed to testify next Thursday and, according to police, may be indicted.
