| CUIABA, Brazil – Residents of this Central-West state capital have noticed Google Street View cars mapping the city’s streets and avenues. Google is using special cameras mounted on motor vehicles to photograph cities around the world and, recently, the cities of Brazil. A “you reporter” photographed one of the cars parked on a city street and uploaded the image to G1.

The Google project aims to map cities around the country and then make the images available on the company’s website. According to a spokesman for Google in Brazil, the project has 80 cars that roam the streets, avenues and country roads throughout the country. Each vehicle has a ‘super camera’ with 15 lenses that capture 360 degree images, showing each address through real images.
The car photographed in Cuiaba was parked in front of government buildings in the city center. The press office of the multinational confirmed to G1 that the Google Street View car is working the streets of Mato Grosso state, but they would not predict when the project would be completed.
Also according to a spokesperson for Google Brazil, the project’s goal is to image the entire road network in Brazil and then make them available on its website to help internet users find addresses and even visit locations virtually.
