| RIO DE JANEIRO – Just one day after the hottest day of the year, bathers on the beaches of Rio's South Zone were surprised by heavy fog. The unusual weather hit in the afternoon, stunning sunbathers who rarely see fog in this sun-worshiping tourist mecca.

The National Institute of Meteorology (INMET) predicted the arrival of a cold front for this weekend. According to the institute on Saturday, the sky should range from partly cloudy to cloudy with rain showers and thunderstorms in the evening. INMET also said that the temperatures would drop. The predicted low temperature for the city is 22º C (72º F) with a high of 33º C (91º F).
On Friday, the mercury reached 39.8º C (104º F) at Military Village. The wind chill also set a record at 43º C (109.4º F), the same as on January 25th, which also set temperature records in the city.
On Sunday, there is a possibility of more rain and lower temperatures. The low is expected to be 20º C (68º F).
