The images show a man carrying a gun approach the victim’s car from behind, then take aim and fire into the passenger side window. As the gunman runs off, the victim’s car rolls forward a few feet before hitting the car in front.

The victim was hit in the face and was rescued while still alive but succumbed to his injuries in a regional hospital. The 49-year-old victim was carrying a gun in his waistband but never had a chance to pull it out. According to police, the victim had previous convictions for murder and embezzlement in another state. The gunman has not been identified.

The gas station manager told police that after hearing the shots, he saw the suspect running down the street where he climbed into a vehicle which drove off. The manager failed to note the license plate number. One lane at the gas station was closed for a short time while police examined the area. The case was referred to the Homicide Division.
